As I mentioned in a previous post regarding Commemorative Months, I’ll be creating items that tie into different “themed holidays.” I must admit that this was just a coincidence, but I recently created a custom keychain/pendant that honors National Dog Day which was last week on August 26th.
At an art show a few weeks ago, my mom (who helps promote my business) met a sweet lady who ordered a custom dog keychain/pendant to be sent to a dear friend of hers whose dog, Blue, passed away last month. She emailed me a picture of Blue and asked that I mail it directly to her friend in CA with a special message hoping that it would brighten her day. It was such a thoughtful idea!
So I went to work and created this:

I included a keyring in the package so it can be converted to a keychain instead of a pendant if she prefers. I just mailed it off last week, so she should receive it any day. I wish I would have thought about it being National Dog Day and timed the delivery up accordingly.
I hope this little keepsake forever reminds her of what a special dog Blue was to her!

How fun! Thanks for stopping over to my blog on your comment. I am a list girl. I don’t think that anything would get done otherwise. Hope you stop back by!

I feel so bad, I didn’t remember my dog “Pepper” on National Dog Day. I hope he doesn’t feel bad….
I’m so glad we’re visiting because we seem to have some awesome things in common. I really do research things before doing them. I too have a great faith and a love for vintage keepsakes.
I’m following your blog and hope to keep in touch.

That is such a sweet idea, especially for someone whose dog has passed away – it’s a little keepsake that will remind them of their precious fur baby. The dog I grew up with, Sadie, passed away 2 yrs ago, but it still hurts. It’s good to have something to remember them by.
I’m happy to report I have two little cuties now named Heidi and Jini. Love them.
Thanks for checking out my blog! I’m following you back.
Just thought i would comment and say neat design, did you code it yourself? Looks great.
